I'm promoting a gig with the legendary DJ Derek in a few weeks (big up to Steve for the wicked flyer!), so thought I'd put a bit of a mix of some of my favourite ska, bluebeat and rocksteady tunes together. It's a style of music I fell in love with when I first started to get deeply into reggae as you can directly hear the transformation of the rhythms, bass and obviously tempo, into what we know and love as modern reggae. There's so much of it out there it was really hard deciding what tunes to leave out, so I've stuck to personal favourites and the classics, hopefully without being too obvious or "Now That's What I Call Ska"!!
